Ken H. sends these pictures of his 1987 C4 Corvette Coupe that with nearly 260,000 miles on the clock is still running strong - and we must say, we're impressed. "Chocolate Thunder" as he calls his Corvette isn't completely stock, either - she's been putting out 300+ HP and 450+ torque at the rear wheels without any problems. And she's even done daily driver duty, at one point putting on 500 miles a week! Ken's beloved C4 is testament to the amazing durability of these engines, and how well they tolerate well-executed modifications as long as they are properly cared for.
Ken was kind enough to list his modifications, in order of their installation, for us.
1) Put on a K&N air filter
2) Replaced the thermostat with 160F
3) Modified the air filter lid cover (cut open)
4) Removed the two front Pre-cats.
5) Replaced all injectors with 23 lbs Accel injectors
6) Added adjustable fuel pressure regulator.
7) Had the transmission rebuilt and modified.
8) Changed the rockers arms to Comp Cams 1.52 ratio rocker arms
9) Upgraded the throttle body with a 52mm.
10) Bypassed the heating of the throttle body.
He also notes, "Before I did 3 thru 10, I put it on a dyno machine and it showed 259 hp with 450 torque. It's a lot stronger now."
Thanks Ken for sending these pictures of this remarkable C4.
