2008 Corvette Overview

The 2008 Corvette takes another step forward as the base models receive a new power plan, the LS3. The engineers at Chevy refined the already impresive LS2 motor by redesigning the cylinder heads to allow for a smoother airflow on the intake and exhaust runner and valves. This change plus a new intake manifold added 30 HP and 24 ft./lbs of torque producing overall 430 HP and 424 ft./lbs of torque. And if that isn't enough a new exahust system is available on the 2008 Corvettes, similar to that which is found on the Z06 Corvettes. Where during light load operation flaps within the exhaust close and create a quiter exhaust tone, but when experiencing high loads the vacuum acuator opens the flap and lets the exhaust flow at tis full potential and gaining an extra 6 HP and 4 ft./lbs of torque.

Other upgrades to the base model Corvette are On-Star, XM radio and Automatic dimming rear view mirrors with compass. There were also two color substitutions Jetstream Blue Metallic Tintcoat and Crystal Red Metallic Tintcoat replaced Le Mans Blue Metallic and Monterey Red Metallic Tintcoat. New this year are the redesigned split 5 spoke rims, there were also the addition of some metal finish products on the door sills. Otherwise the Corvette remains the classic that it is.
